Ganesh chaturthi is celebrated as birth annivarsery of lord ganesh. on the ganesh chaturthi ,the lord ganesh worshipped as the god of wisdom.it is believed thar the lord ganesh was born during sukla paksha on bhadrapadha month. the ganesh chaturthi festival is on august or september month. the festival is celebrated with much favour and joy in india and outside the country.this festival celebrated upto long time as people on thier states.

 Ganesh chaturthi is celebrated with more excitment before the festival start all over the india sets for decorations , pendals , and different cultural activities in on thier streets ,the ganesh has painted with different variable colours and designs over the ganapa. Espicially the maharastrian families celebrated this day in very good manner , in this states ganapathi idol aprroximately 150 ft and more depends upon thier celebrations, it begins with pranaprathista, that involves the chating of mantras,the ritual is followed in different types of begining in the prana prathishta, during the prathishta the ganeshas favorate are made in idol and sweets, the lord ganesha likes modak,coconut rice, motichor, laddoo , payasam among other sweets.

There is ritual of prohibiting moon sighting during ganesh chaturthi,as sight moon on the day is inauspicious.As per sage narada further informed lord krishna that the god chandra has been cursed by lord ganesh that anyone who sighted moon on shukla chaturthi dutring bhadrapada month would be cursed with mithya doshaand it dishonoured to society.

The festival ends with ritual called uttarpuja,which inolves giving farewell to lord ganesh. on the ceremony farewell the lord ganesh is decorated with lots of flowers,and enjoyment people are singing dancing to give ceremomny to lord ganesh ,on that day everyone gather and dances in the front of ganapa, at last they leave ganesha to the water .
